Alessandro Conway is a program manager at Jobs for the Future. A member of the Inclusive Regional Economic Development (IRED) unit in JFF’s Oakland office, he is working on promoting equitable outcomes in economic development, workforce opportunities, and worker well-being in California.
His skills and areas of expertise include:
- Economic analysis
- Individual well-being and the economy
- Fiscal policy and inequality
- Advanced computation
- Languages
Before joining JFF, Alessandro researched the effects of fiscal policy on people of different wealth levels at the Bank of France and the Bank of England. His goal was to identify how such policies affect the economic standing of people from low-income backgrounds to inform future planning. This grew out of his work at the French Economic Observatory.
Before that, he developed an innovative model that integrates personal well-being into economic analysis. This work was recently published.
Alessandro is motivated to advance inclusive economic prosperity and personal well-being in the community around him and beyond. He says JFF’s vision and pursuit of those goals, along with its unique approach unifying place-based strategies and research, resonate strongly with him. He is thrilled to be contributing to the IRED unit’s programs.
Alessandro pursued graduate studies as a Fulbright Scholar. He has a master’s degree in economics from Sciences Po in Paris and a bachelor’s degree in economics and international studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
Outside of work, Alessandro is an avid musician who enjoys playing guitar and mixing his band’s songs. He also revels in being out in nature and exploring all the beautiful sights that California has to offer.
