He is responsible for integrating educational opportunities, workforce initiatives, and economic partnerships to help adults move into and through postsecondary education and into quality jobs that pay family-sustaining wages. His work focuses on launching, scaling, and leading initiatives that support workforce intermediaries and boards, education and workforce development systems, nonprofit organizations, and business and industry.His skills and areas of expertise include:● Network building● Program design, implementation, and management● Community engagement● Diversity, equity, and inclusionBefore joining JFF, Devon was a state network manager for the National Skills Coalition. In that role, he provided customized technical assistance to 20 state coalitions to advance skills training and education policies that expand economic opportunities for workers. Devon also served as the co-lead for the Skills for CA network, where he worked with state workforce development organizations to advance workforce development policies that remove systemic barriers and promote an inclusive economy for all Californians.Devon is an alumni board member of Giving Back Corporation. In this capacity, he helps raise scholarship funds for Black and brown high school seniors in the Inglewood and greater Los Angeles area.Devon has a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles.He says he was drawn to JFF because, “as a reputable national organization, JFF is best positioned to design, test, and bring to scale policies, practices, and programs that better connect people of color to education and career opportunities.”Devon is a foodie, enjoys traveling, and loves to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle outside of work.
