Before joining JFF, Hanna was a senior associate at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), a global research center at MIT that’s working to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence. In that role, she provided executive and programmatic support to the policy and communications team, with specific duties that included event planning, copyediting, and coordinating communications projects. She also cofounded J-PAL’s gender working group and developed curriculum to train employees in gender analysis.

“JFF’s focus on economic advancement and the intersecting identities that affect one’s ability to attain this status is paramount to truly making a society that works for all,” she says. “I am proud to be part of an organization that recognizes this reality.”

Outside of work, Hanna says, “I am a devoted fan of historical fiction—I love how transporting to another time and place can lend insight on how to better comprehend and respond to our current moment.”
