JFF CEO Maria Flynn was cited in a June 26 CNBC opinion column about the news that President Trump was planning to issue an executive order directing the federal government to overhaul its hiring policies and begin assessing job applicants based on their skills, not college degrees.
The column’s authors, Chris Keaveney, CEO of Meritize, and Jane Oates, president of Working Nation, said that eliminating “pedigree requirements” in hiring could help people without degrees get back to work faster when the economy begins to recover from the recession triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
That's important, they added, because Flynn often points out that Americans without degrees are often the first fired in a downturn and the last hired during periods of economic recovery.
