Jobs for the Future, Bunker Hill Community College, Charlestown High School, SAP, and the Boston Private Industry Council launched an innovative pilot program called C-Town Tech to prepare high school students for potential careers in the information technology (IT) sector. IT represents a high-growth sector with an estimated 12% increase in jobs in IT-related occupations from 2014-2024, according to 2015 analysis by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. C-Town Tech students begin the career pathway in 9th grade, taking free college-level courses at Bunker Hill Community College in programs such as Digital and Computer Forensices and Investigations, Database Programming and Administration, and Security, among others. In addition to earning college credit, students participate in paid summer internships and other work-based learning opportunities.
