JFF Applauds House Passage of Build Back Better Act

JFF applauds the House for passage of the Build Back Better Act, the human infrastructure bill that focuses on the needs of today’s workers and families.

This bill, paired with the hard infrastructure package signed into law by President Joe Biden earlier this week, provides historic investments in job creation and American families that are essential to the nation’s short- and long-term economic recovery.

The Build Back Better Act is critical for helping people get back to work. It makes important investments in child care, universal pre-K, paid family leave, and the earned income tax credit—programs that provide workers hardest-hit by the pandemic, especially women, with the supports they need to return to work.

The bill also provides funding for education and workforce development to help people acquire the skills necessary for reemployment in careers that pay family-supporting wages. And it makes significant investments in the fight against climate change, which is essential to preserving the health and well-being of all Americans.

We are pleased to see these priorities included in Build Back Better. As the nation works together toward an equitable economic recovery, JFF urges the Senate to quickly act on this critical legislation that will help America’s workers and families regain their footing and make progress toward a better future.
