Manufacturing Day was October 2nd and, around the country, industry supporters came together to celebrate the manufacturing field. The event was very active on Twitter—see our Storify of interesting articles and success stories of students in manufacturing career pathways.
JFF received some notable press on our Manufacturing work.
Quality Magazine wrote an article “Investing in Your Workforce Will Help You to Reach Your Bottom Line” that highlighted JFF’s work in building programs that bridge the skills gap, and the importance of skills training like the Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) Apprenticeship program.
CNN Money also wrote on the innovative Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) Apprenticeship program, in “The 100,000 job: Be an apprentice.” With the recent federal grant backing, apprenticeship programs are expanding and becoming viable pathways to secure employment and lasting opportunity.
Finally our own JFFer, Deborah Kobes wrote for Manufacturing.net on the need for skilled workers in the Manufacturing field to offset the skills shortage. She highlighted the work of existing pathways programs that keep students on track to enter the Manufacturing industry. She also published a blog on JFF.org titled "Manufacturing Day Showcases Work-Based Innovations in Kentucky."
