Jobs for the Future (JFF) welcomes Eric M. Seleznow and Bob Schwartz, both highly respected experts in their fields, to serve as senior fellows to augment JFF’s efforts to bring education and economic opportunity to underserved populations.
Seleznow will work closely with JFF’s Building Economic Opportunity group to further the organization’s goals of advancing innovative workforce policy and programs. Beginning February 21, Seleznow will be a senior advisor, contributing to JFF’s work on apprenticeship, reentry, sector strategies, and Job Corps.
Seleznow joins JFF from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), where he recently served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Employment and Training Administration under Secretary Tom Perez. During his tenure at DOL, Seleznow focused on implementing the Obama administration’s vision for workforce development, skills training, and registered apprenticeship.
Prior to DOL, Seleznow served in a variety of roles leading state and local workforce and reentry efforts: from workforce board director and state policy advocate to advising the Governor of Maryland, mayors, and other senior policy leaders.
Schwartz, whose primary affiliation remains at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), continues to be actively involved in the Pathways to Prosperity Network, which he co-founded five years ago with JFF’s Nancy Hoffman.
Schwartz has served in a variety of roles in education: high school teacher and principal; education advisor to the Mayor of Boston and the Governor of Massachusetts; education program director at The Pew Charitable Trusts. From 1997-2002, Schwartz served as founding President of Achieve, Inc., a nonprofit organization created by governors and corporate leaders to help improve performance in U.S. schools.
