Work-based courses (WBC) are college courses that have been redesigned in partnership with employers so competencies are taught not only in the classroom but also on the job. The WBC model uses the physical environment of the manufacturing plant to facilitate learning through the completion of real-life work tasks and on-the-spot troubleshooting. Student/workers gain the knowledge and skills necessary to advance in their careers, earn college credits toward a degree, and develop deeper understanding of the methods and meaning behind their work activities. In this session, learn how WBCs use the workplace as a learning lab through experiential learning and employer coaching.
