This self-paced, online training course will help you plan, design, and implement a hybrid or competency-based Registered Apprenticeship. It will help get your program started and walk through considerations to keep it successful once launched.

This course is led by Kinsey Mantay, a project manager with expertise in workforce development, competency-based education, and design. Mantay worked to develop, launch, and promote innovative approaches to apprenticeship at the Workforce Intelligence Network for Southeast Michigan.

Course Overview

This course aims to provide employers, apprenticeship sponsors, and workforce development professionals with a comprehensive understanding of how to create and deliver hybrid and competency-based Registered Apprenticeship programs.

Why is this Course Important

Hybrid and competency-based approaches to Registered Apprenticeship are gaining popularity among apprenticeship practitioners across the United States. Because they help to mitigate seat time, these models can be especially useful for participants of youth apprenticeship programs who are still enrolled in secondary education.

  • Establish a plan
  • Find program samples and build a work process
  • Build your related technical instruction (RTI) outline
  • Build a wage scale
  • Plan communications and define success
  • Build a competency assessment
